Indian Wells is a relatively small community found in the southeastern portion of the Golden State, California. Indian Wells has a population of approximately three thousand eight hundred residents, making it one of the smaller communities in the area known as Coachella Valley. This region is also known as the Palm Springs Area, a reference to arguably the most important city in the area. Indian Wells is technically considered a part of Riverside County, and should not be confused with the city of the same name in Imperial Count. Indian Wells real estate is highly prestigious and quite expensive, meaning that many estates and houses here are quite imposing and impressive. Indian Wells is home to the highest proportion of millionaires than any other incorporated city in the entire United States, a testament to the community's wealth and prestige.

Homes in Indian Wells are spread out over a total of thirteen and two fifths square miles, including just one fifth of a square mile of standing surface water, a rarity in the generally arid environment of the Coachella Valley. Indian Wells is boxed into the Coachella Valley by the San Bernardino Mountains, the Santa Rosa Mountains, the San Jacinto Mountains, and the Little San Bernardino Mountains. Indian Wells is notable for having an exceptional amount of sunshine every year – it is completely normal and even expected for a year in Indian Wells to have more than three hundred and fifty days of sunshine.

Real estate in Indian Wells continues to be much more expensive and prestigious than in the rest of the Golden State, a fact which is not at all surprising when the per capita and per family measures of income are closely examined. The average per capita income in Indian Wells is a whopping seventy six thousand dollars, while the average per family income is almost one hundred and twenty thousand dollars. Politically speaking, Indian Wells is much more conservative than the surrounding portions and communities of the Coachella Valley, which is again not very surprising considering the income distribution of the city.
