Rancho Mirage Real Estate Information
Rancho Mirage is a relatively small, primarily residential community found in the southeastern section of the Golden State, California. Rancho Mirage has a population of approximately thirteen thousand two hundred residents, although that figure is contingent upon a number of factors. Rancho Mirage houses are substantially more popular and in demand during the winter months, meaning that the population of Rancho Mirage can peak at well above twenty thousand residents during parts of the year. Additionally, the most recent official, comprehensive census figures for Rancho Mirage are over nine years old, and will remain so until the publication of the two thousand ten census. Rancho Mirage is considered a portion of Riverside County and the Coachella Valley, which is also known as the greater Palm Springs area.
Rancho Mirage did not exist in a formal sense until the year nineteen seventy three, when it arose from a union between one incorporated and five unincorporated communities. These communities were the city of Mirage Cove and the unincorporated areas of Desert, Magnesia, Palmas, Tamarisk, and Thunderbird. Rancho Mirage real estate was virtually non-existent before the nineteen twenties, when the area was almost completely desert with an occasional sign of human inhabitation. There have been a number of extremely famous temporary and permanent residents of Rancho Mirage throughout the years, especially in the Annenberg Estate or Sunnylands region. These individuals include Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Gerald Ford, and Mary Martin.
Real estate in Rancho Mirage is especially popular during the summer months, when so-called “snowbirds” flock down from the northern states to enjoy the balmy warm weather of the Coachella Valley. The educational needs of Rancho Mirage are met primarily by the Palm Springs Unified School District, which is constructing a new high school and which also maintains Rancho Mirage Elementary School within the city limits of Rancho Mirage. Rancho Mirage has been nationally and internationally recognized as being a great resort community, with London Imperial Traveler Magazine naming it the best resort town in the world. Rancho Mirage is also quite popular among retirees, who are able to enjoy the warm weather throughout the year.
